Grammar Tip:

• In Spanish, days are not capitalized.
• They are all masculine (el lunes, el martes...).

Fun Fact:

Most names come from Roman gods: lunes (Luna), martes (Marte), miércoles (Mercurio)...

Pronunciation Hack: They are cognates (similar to English)! Remember to write them in minúscula (lower case).

Note: We nearly always use the article: "El verano es divertido". These months correspond to the Northern Hemisphere.

Why it matters

In Spanish, prepositions are precise. Use "El" for specific days ("on Monday") and "En" for larger periods like months or years ("in January"). Mastering this rule is key to sounding natural!

4 Los Números y La Fecha

How to say dates

In Spanish, we use a simple formula. Unlike English, we generally use cardinal numbers (one, two, three...), not ordinals (second, third...).

"El" + [number] + "de" + [month]
